Our Story

Drawing inspiration from the ancient Gurukulam tradition, where learning was experiential, personalized, and deeply connected to life, we set out to reimagine education for the 21st century. We believe that the wisdom of our ancestors, combined with modern pedagogical insights, can create something truly transformative.

This mission lead us to the formation of Shivanetra Trust. Where we are effortlessly working on reviving the Gurukulam Method of education in India, preparing the children of Bharata for the future. 

The Utthista Bharata (meaning Arise India) project was born from a simple observation: children in India were being failed by a system that demanded memorization without understanding, taught in a language they didn't speak, and disconnected them from their cultural roots.

Today, we work with schools across rural India, training teachers, developing culturally-relevant learning materials, and creating spaces where children can discover the joy of understanding.

Our journey has just begun, but every child we reach reminds us why this work matters.
